Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

Science & Technology Journal (STJ) follows rigorous editorial standards to ensure the integrity, quality, and accessibility of published content. The policy covers peer-reviewed research contributions as well as editor-reviewed materials such as news, highlights, and editorials.

1. Peer-Reviewed Content

  • Research Articles: 3000–7000 words. Full reports of original investigations. Subject to double-blind peer review by at least two experts.
  • Review Articles: 5000–9000 words. Comprehensive, critical surveys of literature on a defined topic. Peer-reviewed.
  • Short Communications / Perspectives: 1500–3000 words. Concise reports, methodological innovations, or conceptual perspectives. Peer-reviewed.

2. Editor-Reviewed Content

  • Editorials: Invited commentaries written by editors or guest editors. Not peer-reviewed.
  • News & Highlights: 300–1000 words. Short, accessible articles on recent advances, policy developments, or notable events in science and technology. Editor-reviewed, not peer-reviewed research. May include “Research Highlights” (~300 words) or “Feature News Articles” (600–1000 words).

3. Review Process

  • Research, Reviews, Perspectives: Double-blind peer review by at least two qualified referees.
  • News & Highlights and Editorials: Reviewed and approved by editors for clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
  • Turnaround Goal: First decision within 4–6 weeks for peer-reviewed content; 7–14 days for news/editorial content.

4. Publication Ethics

STJ adheres to the COPE Guidelines on publication ethics. All submissions undergo plagiarism screening, and authors must disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.

5. Indexing & Archiving

  • All articles are assigned a DOI and deposited with Crossref.
  • Long-term preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PN).
  • Indexed in Google Scholar, DOAJ (in process), and other databases as applicable.

6. Open Access & Licensing

STJ is an open access journal. All content is published under the CC BY 4.0 license, permitting unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided the original work is properly cited.

No Article Processing Charges (APCs) are currently levied on authors.

7. Authorship & Submissions

Authors must meet ICMJE authorship criteria. Submissions should be made online via the OJS submission system. For News & Highlights, guest pitches may be submitted directly to the editorial office.
